Do you always have a lot of tabs
open in your browser? If your browser has crashed on you, or if you just want
to keep those tabs open next time you start your computer, don’t panic. There
is a solution.
We’ll show you how to have each of
the five major browsers open all the tabs from your last browsing session
whenever you open the browser, so you always pick up right where you left off.
Chrome
To automatically reopen tabs that
were open last time Chrome was open, click the Chrome menu button (three
horizontal bars) and select “Settings”.
The Settings screen opens in a new
tab, unless you’ve chosen to open Chrome’s settings in a separate window. In
the On startup section, select the “Continue where you left off” option.
Changes to settings are
automatically saved. To close the Settings tab, click the “X” on the right side
of the tab or press Ctrl+W on your keyboard.
Firefox
Firefox not only remembers what tabs
were open in your last browsing session, but also all the windows that were
open, if you had multiple Firefox windows open. To automatically open all the
windows and tabs that were open in your last Firefox browsing session, click
the Firefox menu button (three horizontal bars) in the upper-right corner of
the window and click “Options” on the drop-down menu.
The Options display on a new tab.
Make sure the General screen is active on the Options tab. In the Startup
section, select “Show my windows and tabs from last time” in the “When Firefox
starts” drop-down list. Click “OK”.
Changes to settings are
automatically saved. To close the Settings tab, click the “X” on the right side
of the tab or press Ctrl+W on your keyboard.
Opera
To have Opera open the tabs from
your last session, click the Opera menu in the upper-left corner of the browser
window and select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.
The Settings display on a new tab.
On the Basic screen, in the On startup section, click the “Continue where I
left off” option.
Changes to settings are
automatically saved. To close the Settings tab, click the “X” on the right side
of the tab or press Ctrl+W on your keyboard.
Internet
Explorer
To open all the tabs from your last
browsing session in Internet Explorer, click the gear button in the upper-right
corner of the window and select “Internet options” from the drop-down menu.
On the General tab, in the Startup
section, select “Start with tabs from the last session”. Then, click “OK”.
Microsoft
Edge
To open all the tabs from your last
browsing session in Microsoft Edge, click the menu button (three dots) in the
upper-right corner of the window and select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.
The Settings pane displays on the
right side of the browser window. Under Open with, select “Previous pages”.
Click anywhere to the right of the Settings pane to close it.
Now, you won’t lose your open tabs
if your browser crashes or if you close it accidentally.
